The driver of a car found upside down and submerged in a reservoir near Nederland died of hypothermia.

Boulder County Coroner Emma Hall says David Dubie, 43, of Littleton, also suffered blunt-force neck trauma when he crashed into Barker Reservoir. His death has been ruled an accident.

The Daily Camera reports Dubie's car was found near the shore Dec. 17, and dive teams searched the freezing water but did not immediately find any bodies. Searchers found the body about three hours later on the opposite shore.

Investigators say it appears Dubie lost control of his car the night of Dec. 16, hit a guardrail and went down an embankment and into the reservoir.

He got out of the car but died after walking across the ice.
