CU-Boulder bans hoverboards from dorms

University of Colorado has banned the use of hoverboards in campus residence halls following an announcement last month from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission that it would investigate the battery-powered devices.

The Daily Camera reports that CU-Boulder is now among several other universities across the country that has prohibited the use of hoverboards. The devices are also banned at Denver International Airport.

CU Police Department spokesman Scott Pribble says students can use hoverboards on campus sidewalks and when passing through a crosswalk. If a student riding a hoverboard collides with a pedestrian on campus, Pribble says they could be cited for inattentive driving.
