BOULDER, Colo. -- After an all-night search, a man wanted in Boulder was taken into custody in the area of Foothills Parkway and Baseline Road.

The situation started Tuesday night around 10 p.m. after police found a motor home parked illegally near Hickory Avenue and Brooklawn Drive.

"[When officers] ran the license plate, they quickly determined that this was a wanted felon," Boulder spokesperson Shannon Cordingly told Denver7. "When they made contact with the individual, he was not at all cooperative. [He] ran back into the motor home. Multiple shots were fired."

Police said the suspect is 34-year-old Russell Daniels. Police said Daniels has an extensive criminal history and an out-of-state warrant.

When police and SWAT went into the motor home, they found a large amount of blood inside, leaving them to believe Daniels shot himself.

Officers spent the night following the blood trail and the man's cell phone signal. He was found at about 7 a.m. He was handcuffed and walked to a nearby stretcher.

Video from AIRTRACKER7 showed the stretcher being taken to a nearby ambulance. The man was taken to the hospital to be treated.

No officers were injured, police said.

Reverse emergency notifications calls went to 6,000 people in the area warning them about the police activity and asking them to stay inside during the search, police said.

The Boulder Valley School District warned families in the school communities of BCSIS, High Peaks, Eisenhower, Horizons and Manhattan that, "Due to significant road closures and police activity in the area, these schools will be on lockout after students arrive." That lockout was lifted shortly after 7 a.m.

A woman ran from the motor home during the initial standoff. Police said she had a protection order against Daniels, but police did not say if the woman was with Daniels willingly or not. She was not injured.
