BOULDER, Colo. – A nurse is recovering after a man tried to strangle her with her own stethoscope Tuesday, the Boulder Police Department said Wednesday evening.

The nurse, who has not been identified, briefly lost consciousness after 30-year-old Jessee Owen Williams tried to strangle her with her own stethoscope when he was told he was going to be transferred to a different facility, according to a spokesperson for the Boulder Police Department.

The officials said the alleged attack happened at Foothills Hospital.

The suspect was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.

The nurse was treated and released from the hospital after the reported attack, according to a Boulder Community Health spokesperson.

It's unclear if Williams had been assigned a public defender or defense attorney as of Wednesday evening.
