Boulder Police, the Bolder County Cyber Team and the Boulder Valley School District are investigating a threat to Boulder High School.

A screenshot of a text message threatening to harm students went viral on social media, the Boulder Valley School District said.

A message was reported to the school and the Safe2Tell hotline Tuesday night, Boulder Valley School District spokesman Briggs Gramblin told Denver7.

Gramblin said officials don't think the threat is credible, but they take all threats seriously. Boulder Police added extra neighborhood patrols and the district added extra school resource officers on campus.

Gramblin told Denver7 the threat was anonymous and not specific, but did mention Wednesday morning.

Gramblin said the district sent a note to parents notifying them of the situation.

The Boulder County Cyber Team and Investigators from the Boulder Police Department are working to determine the origin of the threat.

The Safe2Tell hotline allows students to anonymously report any threatening behavior that endangers students, their friends, their family, or their community.
