A University of Colorado student is being held for investigation of second-degree murder after a fellow student was found stabbed to death early Saturday following an argument off campus.
Officers were called to the area of Broadway and Walnut Streets around 2:07 a.m. after an argument escalated into violence, according to a press release from the Boulder Police Department.
The victim, now identified as Sean Hudson of Greenfield, Indiana, was stabbed multiple times.
Ian Scheuermann, 22, was taken into custody without incident. Scheuermann and the victim had mutual acquaintances, police said.
University of Colorado Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano issued a statement calling the stabbing senseless.
Detectives were working to determine what led to the assault.
