28% of female CU undergrads report assault

More than a quarter of female undergraduate students at the University of Colorado who responded to a survey say they have experienced sexual assault while in college.

The Daily Camerareports that preliminary results from a sexual misconduct survey found that 28 percent of female respondents say they experienced assault ranging from rape to unwanted touching.

The survey was conducted by the Boulder campus and had a 41 percent response rate. Undergraduate, graduate and non-degree seeking students of all genders were asked to take the survey. Overall, 15 percent of respondents reported being sexually assaulted during their time in college.

CU officials say even one instance of sexual assault is too many and that the survey will help them with prevention.
