A pickup truck driver was seriously injured after crashing head-on with an RTD bus early Saturday morning in Aurora.
Police said the 31-year-old driver of a white, Ford F-150 pickup, was driving northbound on the southbound lanes of I-225 when he crashed head-on with an RTD bus just south of East Alameda Avenue at around 3:17 a.m.
The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but is expected to survive. The driver and co-driver of the RTD bus, the only occupants, were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, a police spokesperson said.
Charges against the driver of the Ford pickup are pending, but alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash.
All lanes on southbound I-225 were closed for several hours but have since reopened.
