Wires being installed for new Aurora light rail

Crews have finished installing the overhead wires for the new R-Line Light Rail at South Sable and Exposition in Aurora.

The next intersection that will be affected is South Sable Blvd. and East Ellsworth Ave.

The R-Line will have 10.5 miles of track, connecting Nine Mile station in Aurora, to the Peoria station in Denver.

Commuters will be able to take the light rail from the Peoria Station to Denver International Airport on the new commuter train.

RTD says the R-Line should be complete before 2017. It’s a project estimated to cost $350 million. It's funded through a public-private partnership.
