An injured firefighter has been released from the hospital after battling a brush fire on Alameda, near Dayton and Havana, Monday afternoon. According to the Denver Fire Department the firefighter was injured by a hose on scene.
The fast-moving brush fire started near the Denver and Aurora border around 4 p.m. Numerous drivers passing by called 911. The Denver and Aurora Fire Departments responded.
The fire shutdown westbound Alameda Avenue near Dayton Street. Lt. Sean Dolan with the Aurora Fire Department said it took about an hour to get the fire under control.
"It's a little unusual for this time of year but it is warm, dry and windy which make conditions actually pretty favorable for a fire of this nature," said Lt. Dolan

"The wind was blowing it," Denver7 viewer Lisa Schwinghammer said after she drove bu. "It was pretty big."
About two and a half acres burned. There's no word yet on a cause of the fire.
The National Weather Service issued a fire weather watch for Wednesday. Winds speeds are being forecasted at 20 to 30 mph and low humidity is expected.
