Aurora investigating two separate explosions that happened a mile apart within a two-week span

AURORA, Colo. – Two separate explosions which rocked the City of Aurora within a span of two weeks are being investigated by law enforcement, but officials need your help to solve the mystery surrounding them.

Investigators with Aurora Fire Rescue and the Aurora Police Department, along with officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) say they do not know what led to the explosions that occurred on December 25, 2020 and Jan. 7 of this year, only saying the occurred within a mile of each other.

The first incident happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. Police said the explosion caused damage to two homes in the 18000 block of E. Mansfield Ave., in the area of E. Mansfield Ave. and E. Loloya Drive. No one was injured.

The second incident took place this Thursday, at around 4:45 a.m., near the 4600 block of S. Pagosa Circle – around the intersection of S. Pagosa Way and S. Pitkin Street. A caller reported to 911 that they heard the sound of gunshots fired near their home. Police said the explosive device caused damage to one home in the area.

Investigators say they are interested in any information about these explosions, including security camera footage, doorbell camera videos or photos that residents in both areas may have around the time of the incidents.
