The man who picked up a woman at a bar in Arvada, took her home, held her hostage and sexually assaulted her for hours has been sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors said Lawrence Allen White, now 49, met a young woman at the Ralston Lounge in Arvada in September 2014.

"After cocktails and conversation, she went with him to his house," prosecutors said. "They ate and had more to drink. She lost consciousness and when she woke up she was lying naked on his bed."

The woman said she was not only naked, but had a rope tied around her neck, connected to one of White's legs.

"He told her that was to keep her from screaming," prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said White held her captive and sexually assaulted her repeatedly for the next 30 hours.

When White eventually took the woman home, she went to the hospital and police were called.

Prosecutors said officers found the woman had multiple abrasions and bruises around her neck from being choked with the rope. She also had hemorrhaging in both eyes and bleeding in the tissue inside her throat and ears, caused by the choking.  She had vaginal injuries and other scratches and bruising.

"This is one of the most calculated and vicious attacks that I have ever seen," said District Attorney Pete Weir. "This man held this innocent young woman prisoner for almost two days and repeatedly raped and assaulted her.  He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison.  The Arvada Police Department did an excellent [job] in this terrifying case."

A jury convicted White of kidnapping, sexual assault and assault. He was sentenced to life in prison.

Prosecutors said White had three prior felony convictions, including one in California for accessory to murder.
