WELD and LARIMER COUNTIES, Colo. – Three people were killed in three separate vehicle crashes in northern Colorado Wednesday evening, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The first was a two-vehicle crash that happened on Highway 287 at Colorado Road 72 in Larimer County. One person was taken to a hospital and another was reported dead at the scene, according to Colorado State Trooper Josh Lewis.

A second two-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 14 at mile marker 151 near Ault. Two people were taken to a hospital and a third, a 27year-old man, was declared dead at the scene.

The third crash happened at Highway 392 and Weld County Road 45. A 63-year-old female died from injuries sustained in that crash, Lewis told Denver.

All three crashes are under investigation, and while the cause is unknown at this time, roads are “extremely treacherous” according to Lewis.
