WELD COUNTY, Colo. – Authorities say they’re investigating a fatal train crash involving a pedestrian in Weld County that happened early Friday afternoon.
The crash happened just after noon in the area of Weld County Road 34 and Highway 85 in Platteville.
Police, firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene of the fatal crash after a witness called 911 to report the incident, police said in a statement.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified by officials, was declared dead at the scene.
The Weld County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate.
A spokesperson for the Platteville Police Department told Denver7 the crash involved a freight train, but she didn't know which company was operating the train.
