Woman on sidewalk fatally struck by driver who jumped curb in Aurora, fled from scene

AURORA, Colo. — A female pedestrian died after a driver jumped a curb and hit her Sunday morning.

On Sunday shortly after 3 a.m., officers with the Aurora Police Department were dispatched to check on a person who was lying on the sidewalk on E. Iliff Avenue east of S. Pagosa Way.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a deceased 26-year-old woman on the south sidewalk.

An investigation revealed that a vehicle driving eastbound had left the roadway for an unknown reason and drove up onto the sidewalk, where it struck the woman and a street sign before returning to the roadway.

The driver fled from the scene. As of Sunday evening, there were no witnesses to the crime.
