DENVER -- It was supposed to be a night of fun after a concert, but it turned into a near-death experience for Jenifer Martinez-Santiago.
"It's probably the scariest situation I've been in in my life," she told Denver7.
Late Saturday night, she was downtown after a concert. After a late night slice of pizza, Jenifer says she was riding a rental bicycle along Market Street. She says she exchanged words with two men in a red car, when she lost her balance and touched the car.
"That's when the passenger reached over grabbed ahold of my arm, the driver grabbed ahold of my arm with his left arm, and the car took off from the light," she said.
She lost her bike and was dragged at least half a block along the pavement between 18th and 19th on Market until the two men let go.
"So I let go, I have two small children who need their mom."
Martinez-Santiago says when she regained consciousness she had sprained ligaments in her shoulder, road rash, and shredded clothes.
"We're just trying to see if someone saw what happened or gotten a plate or anything," she said.
We checked the Denver Police crime map. In the last month there were eight aggravated assaults in the LoDo section of the map where Jenifer said this happened. There were 87 in the last year.
"I don't feel safe at all. I'm actually really happy that I live in Greeley, that I moved from Denver," she said through tears.
If you were in the area of 18th and Market Street late Saturday night or early Sunday and saw something, call Denver Police.
