Woman charged with vehicular homicide for deadly Westminster crash that killed passenger

WESTMINSTER, Colo. – A 52-year-old woman faces vehicular homicide charges for her role in a deadly crash that happened late last month in Westminster.

Cheryl Denise Medina, 52, is charged with vehicular homicide – DUI, vehicular homicide, driving without insurance and driving under restraint.

She is accused of killing 41-year-old Priscilla Kristy Smith on Sept. 27 after she crossed over into the eastbound lanes of W. 84th Ave. near the intersection of Federal Boulevard and hit a pole.

Smith, who was a passenger in Medina’s vehicle, died of injuries she suffered in the crash.

Media was formally advised of the charges against her Monday and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 26.
