Woman awakened by loud knocks, finds flasher at patio door

DENVER -- Kerri Peek was fast asleep when she was awakened by loud knocks and barking dogs.

She stumbled out of bed, walked into her living room, turned on the patio light and was shocked to see a flasher trying to get in to her apartment.

“I could see more of him than I wanted to,” she said.

Peek said the flasher, who she described as a thin man wearing a blue hoodie, wasn’t fazed by her barking dogs.  She said he kept trying to open the door.

“The door was shaking,” she said. “He was touching himself, and I didn’t think for one minute that he was here to get my TV. He was here to hurt me.”

The young grandmother told Denver7 that she ran back into her bedroom, grabbed her cell phone, then came back out and dialed 911.

She said it was only when she tried to take a picture, while talking to police, that the flasher turned and ran.

“He ran this way,” she said, pointing toward the south.

Denver police say they are investigating the case. Peek said they talked to neighbors and checked for prints.

"The reason I'm talking about this is because there is something about how brazen he was," she said. "There's something about the way that he wouldn't stop coming at the door."

She said the flasher wasn't nervous at all.

"It's like he had done it before," she said, adding, "I'm going to get a gun or some pepper spray."
