Witness: Thief ran out with money veterans were collecting for relief fund

DENVER -- A thief is reportedly on the run after stealing money veterans were out collecting Saturday afternoon in south Denver. 

Several veterans from the VFW Post 2461 were out collecting donations for the Veterans Relief Fund outside the King Soopers on Yale and Colorado at around 1:30 p.m. when a man allegedly grabbed the money and ran off, according to Army vet Gary Edington.

He said the suspect ran way with over $1,000 in donations to the fund.
