EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office says a Widefield High School student was arrested Wednesday and accused of planning a threat to the school.
The sheriff’s office says the student, who has not been identified by authorities, was charged with inciting destruction of life or property, which is a class 6 felony.
The sheriff’s office says its resource officer at the school learned of the student’s plans, which prompted the investigation. Security-Widefield in a census-designated place southeast of Colorado Springs.
“We feel there is no longer a valid threat to Widefield High School,” Natalie Sosa, the public information officer for the sheriff’s office, said in a release.
The sheriff’s office did not release further information about the incident but encouraged parents to talk with their kids about charges they could face for making such threats.
