WELD COUNTY, Colo. – Greeley police continue to investigate a strange kidnapping that happened early Wednesday morning and led to a woman facing multiple felony charges.

Police investigators say Mayra Lerma, 31, kidnapped two women in Greeley—possibly over a money dispute—and drove them outside of the city to unincorporated Weld County.

One woman was able to jump out of the vehicle on the way out of town when Lerma stopped at a stop sign, and the second remained held against her will for several hours, according to Greeley police.

The second victim, who was unable to escape, was also assaulted by Lerma, according to police.

Greeley police spokesman Joe Tymkowych said investigators believe one additional person is a suspect in the case.

Lerma has been charged with two counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault and one count of menacing. One of the assault charges is a misdemeanor, while the rest are felonies.
