LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The pair of juvenile offenders who allegedly escaped from a youth detention facility in Lakewood are back in custody after a carjacking and police pursuit Sunday.

The two 17-year-old males, Emilio Domingues and Eduardo Ruelas, escaped Saturday night from Mountview Youth Services Center after assaulting a staff member, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said.

After escaping, the pair stole a car at knifepoint from a 7-Eleven in Lakewood early Sunday morning, according to Lakewood police.

Around 11:30 a.m., an officer spotted the teens in the stolen car and attempted to pull them over. But the pair took off, eventually crashing the vehicle in the area of West 5th Avenue and Newton street in Denver.

After the crash, the pair fled on foot and were arrested shortly after by Lakewood police.

The detention center staff member assaulted in the escape was treated at an area hospital. No other injuries were reported.
