DENVER — A Colorado drug trafficking organization has been dismantled after SWAT teams executed eight search and arrest warrants Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the Northern Colorado Drug Task Force.

Authorities seized an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and firearms during raids at locations in Arvada, Aurora, Berthoud, Campion, Denver, Fort Collins, and Thornton, the release read.

Details related to arrests have not been released at this time.

The task force operation, dubbed Operation Malverde, began eight months ago.

The drug ring became investigators primary focus following an overdose death of a 40-year-old man in Fort Collins in May, according to the news release.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and updates will be provided in the near future.
