Suspects burglarized, damaged historic chapel at Evergreen Cemetery

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying suspects who burglarized a historic chapel at the Evergreen Cemetery on Nov. 24.

The suspects broke inside and damaged the chapel, which was constructed around 1909. They also damaged stained glass and electronics.

The video shows at least four suspects carrying lights around the building.

The Evergreen Cemetery was established shortly after the town was founded in 1871, according to Colorado Springs’s website. It’s a 220-acre cemetery and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places.
