DENVER — A suspected drunk driver accused of crashing into a Denver home after causing a fatal crash Friday is out of the hospital and in the Denver City Jail.

Anatolio Garcia, 38, was booked on investigation of driving under the influence and is facing vehicular homicide charges, according to Denver police. He was hospitalized for injuries he sustained in the Friday afternoon crash.

Police allege Garcia, driving a minivan, was drunk when he ran a stop sign, collided with a sports coupe and then crashed into a home in the 800 block of South Patton Court.

There were at least two people in the coupe, an adult male driver and a child. The driver, whose name has not been released, was killed in the collision. Paramedics transported the 5-year-old child to the hospital as a precaution.

Police said people were inside the house at the time of the crash, but no one inside was injured.

According to records pulled by Denver7, Garcia has been convicted of two alcohol-related offenses in the past, including a 2003 DUI.
