DENVER – A man who died after he was shot by police for reportedly threatening them with a weapon has been identified.
Nico Descheenie, 23, died at the Medical Center of Aurora following a confrontation with officers from the Denver Police Department on Monday.
Police said they encountered a stolen vehicle in southwest Denver that they followed to the area of Iliff Ave. and I-225 in Aurora when Descheenie allegedly stopped the vehicle, got out and threatened officers with a weapon.
Officers then fired back and struck the suspect, who would later die at the hospital.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner said Descheenie’s cause of death was from multiple gunshot wounds and classified the manner of death as a homicide.
Police are investigating the shooting.
