ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A man in a stolen car was arrested after authorities say he pointed a gun at deputies while leading them on a high-speed pursuit in Adams County Monday morning.

After crashing the stolen 2018 Range Rover, the suspect, Daniel Satriano, exited the vehicle and ran into a nearby creek and attempted to swim away, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. But deputies caught up with him and arrested the 35-year-old suspect.

Deputies recovered a loaded Beretta 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a quantity of methamphetamine, the sheriff’s office said.

The pursuit began sometime after 9 a.m. when deputies responded to the area of 54th Avenue and Primrose Lane on a stolen vehicle report. While in the area, deputies spotted the stolen Range Rover on 54th Avenue near Columbine Lane and attempted to pull it over. But the suspect took off, leading authorities south toward Interstate 76, according to a news release.

During the pursuit, Satriano, driving west on I-76 with a shredded rear tire, pointed a semi-automatic handgun out of the window at pursuing deputies, the release read. He then left the roadway, crash through a fence and down an embankment, where he struck a tree.

At that point, Satriano exited the vehicle and ran into the area known as the Clear Creek Trails and jumped into the creek, attempting to swim away. Deputies say he continued to struggle after being overtaken.

Satriano was booked on several charges, including assault on a peace officer, motor vehicle theft, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, and vehicular eluding.
