DENVER – Preliminary state numbers show there were 199 DUI arrests in Colorado over the St. Patrick’s Day enforcement period, which stretched from March 10-20.

Only 28 agencies have reported their numbers to the statewide database thus far, and the number is likely to grow.

In 2016, there were 455 DUI arrests statewide over the March 11-18 period, though that number came with 106 agencies reporting.

But according to the data so far, DUI arrests made by the Colorado Springs Police Department were up over year, from 32 in 2016 to 52 this year. The tracking period was also three days longer this year.

But DUI arrests made by the Denver Police Department were down even when adding the three extra days, from 44 last year to 36 this year.

Of the agencies that have so far reported, the highest number of arrests came on St Patrick’s Day (37), and the weekend before, which saw a total of 63 arrests between Saturday and Sunday.
