GREELEY, Colo. – Police are asking for help in identifying a man accused of breaking into a family’s home, trying to sexually assault an underage girl, then stabbing the girl’s father when he confronted the suspect.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. on Aug. 19, according to police, who released a sketch of the suspect on Tuesday.
The suspect broke into an apartment at the Willows Apartment complex on 23rd Avenue, according to Greeley police.
He climbed into the girl’s bed, waking her up, then threatened her and told her to have sex with him. Police say they don’t know how the suspect got into the apartment in the first place.
The girl managed to escape her bedroom and tell her father, who confronted the suspect. They started to fight, according to police, and the suspect stabbed the father and fled.
Police say the suspect is described as an African-American man between 20 and 30 years of age, with an athletic build and lighter complexion.
The father who was stabbed is recovering from his injuries, police said.
