DENVER — Police in Denver want to talk to a man in connection with the stabbing death of a 7-Eleven clerk Thursday night.

The man authorities are calling a person of interest was seen on the store’s surveillance video hours before police responded to the downtown location at 621 17th Street around 11:38 p.m.

When police arrived, they found the victim, identified as 29-year-old Derek Sorenson, suffering from stab wounds. Paramedics rushed him to Denver Health where doctors later pronounced him deceased.

It's not clear if the homicide was motivated by robbery. Police have not provided many details as to what led up to Sorenson's death.

Sorenson was employed at the downtown store, and video stills police released Friday appears to show the victim and the man engaged in some sort of confrontation in the foyer.

The man sought by police is described as a 5-foot 10-inch tall white male with a medium build.

He was wearing a dark colored baseball hat with the Philadelphia Eagles logo, a dark colored coat with a hood, dark pants or jeans, and dark colored athletic shoes with white trim.
