ARVADA, Colo. – Westminster Police continue to search for the driver who they say hit a man near 80th Avenue and Sheridan Boulevard in the early hours of January 21.

Steven Clark, 32, said he remembered walking in the crosswalk, but does not recall the subsequent crash. “I remember being at the hospital after that.”

Clark said his left leg was shattered, he suffered bruised ribs and a bruised pelvis, a concussion as well as other serious injuries.

Still, Clark said he knows he’s lucky to be alive. “If the car hit me a little more direct on, it’d be a lot worse.”

Westminster police created a Facebook post about the car in question. They believe it was a 2002-2003 dark, four-door Acura or Honda that hit Clark.

He said Saturday, “Just seems like a lot of people just don’t care about other people.” Clark said he wishes the driver stopped to help him, and now he hopes the driver chooses to come forward.

Clark’s family posted a GoFundMe page. He was told recovery could take more than eight weeks. Clark said he’s a construction worker and said it’s going to be difficult paying off medical bills when he isn’t mobile.

Denver7 crews visited the intersection and spoke with pedestrians who frequent the area.

Jason Berry said the news isn’t surprising, “It doesn’t surprise me around here because I’d be walking the crosswalk and sometimes get cut off by drivers.”

Clark’s road to recovery continues, “If it was a second sooners, I definitely wouldn’t be here.”
