BOULDER, Colo. — Boulder police are asking for the public’s help after several violent attacks on women over the past two weeks.

While police don’t know if these incidents are related to one another, the crimes happened in the same area.

The first incident occurred on Oct. 4 near University Hills. A woman was leaving a party when a person walked up behind her, choked her and forced her into a car with three men inside. She was assaulted and escaped when the suspects heard sirens nearby.

Two days later, a group of women were leaving a party and walking on 11th Street near Pennsylvania Avenue when a car pulled up next to them. Several men were inside the car and one pulled a gun and threatened the women before driving away.

On Oct. 10, a woman was carjacked at gunpoint at the Twenty Ninth Street shopping center. The suspect stole the car and after a chase with police, crashed it and fled on foot.

The following day, a woman was sexually assaulted after a man jumped in her car and refused to leave. The woman, who drives for the CU Boulder’s NightRide service, had just dropped students off near the Fiske Planetarium on the campus. The suspect fondled the woman and tried to kiss her. The woman drove the suspect to the Shell gas station on 29th Street and Baseline, and the man left the car. The woman told police he had identified himself as Ashton. He was described as a white man around 30 years old. He had a dark-colored full beard and was wearing a blue puffy coat and a multi-colored hat with a black bill.

Anyone with information on that incident is encouraged to call the CU Police Department at 303-492-6666.
