DENVER – A suspect who used flamboyant disguises during several bank robberies across the metro area was arrested this week thanks to a Crime Stoppers tip, according to an arrest affidavit in the case released Friday.

Brianna Casias, 19, who was dubbed the “Glamour Shot Bandit” by local authorities, was wanted in connection for the robberies, or attempted robberies, of eight Denver-area banks between March 22 and May 8.

Investigators said Casias allegedly robbed or attempted to rob the following banks:

  • Vectra Bank, 3600 N. Quebec St. in Denver – March 22
  • Key Bank, 6405 E. Hampden Ave. in Denver – April 1
  • Key Bank, 3410 E. 1st Ave. in Denver – April 5
  • Liberty Savings Banks, 6460 E. Yale Ave. in Denver (attempted robbery) – April 9
  • First Bank, 8901 E. Hampden Ave. in Denver – April 9
  • TCF Bank, 18520 Green Valley Ranch Blvd. in Denver – April 9
  • Bank of the West, 2050 S. Downing St. in Denver (attempted robbery) – May 8
  • TCF Bank, 2690 W. Belleview Ave. in Littleton – May 8

During the string of robberies, investigators said Casias wore heavy makeup, large hats, gloves and sunglasses. They also said she never spoke during the robberies and instead handed a note demanding “100’s, 50’s and 20’s” before leaving the banks using at least two stolen getaway vehicles, according to the affidavit.

Last month, Denver police said the suspect was increasingly becoming more violent when she showed a bank teller a black semi-automatic gun in the April 5 robbery at the Key Bank.

The total loss to the eight banks was $16,861, a spokesperson for the Denver District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Casias was eventually apprehended after Crime Stoppers received two tips from the public, revealing the woman’s identity and age, the affidavit states.

A search through law enforcement records found Casias had previous arrests for second-degree assault, third-degree assault, obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and theft.

She now faces charges of one count of aggravated robbery, one count of felony menacing, one count of felony theft, five counts of robbery, two counts of criminal attempt to commit robbery and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Casias is scheduled to appear in court for her second advisement on May 21.

The case remains an active investigation.
