GOLDEN, Colo. – A man has been arrested on several charges, including vehicular homicide, after he crashed head-on with a vehicle in Golden late Friday night, said a spokesperson from the Golden Police Department.

Witnesses told police a car, driven by 29-year-old William Lenox, was going north on Highway 93 near the intersection of Golden Gate Canyon without its headlights on, when it crossed over the center line and hit another vehicle head on traveling in the opposite direction.

The vehicle that was hit had four people inside. A passenger in the right back seat suffered severe head trauma and was pronounced dead when first responders arrived to the scene. The driver and the other two passengers were taken to a hospital with what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries. The identity of the deceased victim was not immediately released.

Lenox, who was not injured in the crash, was arrested on multiple charges including vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and careless driving resulting in death.

He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail pending formal charges from the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office.
