ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — Two people have been arrested in a shooting last week on Interstate 76 in Adams County, officials said.
Isaiah Cain Trujillo-Tucson, 22, and Alexis Mary Fernandez, 19, both of Westminster, each face a charge of attempted murder. Trujillo-Tucson also faces a menacing charge and Fernandez faces a charge of tampering with physical evidence.
The incident happened about 11:35 p.m. Wednesday near I-76 and Tennyson Street. Deputies learned that the victim was driving east on I-76 when a dark sedan approached her vehicle. Someone in the passenger seat of the sedan pointed a semi-automatic handgun at her car and fire multiple shots, according to the sheriff's office.
The bullets shattered glass and penetrated the vehicle in several areas, but no injuries were reported. Detectives identified Trujillo-Tucson and Fernandez as the suspects and learned they knew the victim.
Two days later, investigators tracked Trujillo-Tucson and Fernandez to an apartment complex in Westminster. They were taken into custody and booked into the Adams County jail.
