FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Police are investigating a domestic dispute that lead to an officer-involved shooting in Fort Collins.
Investigators said multiple officers shot and killed the suspect after he came at police with a weapon.
It happened in the 900 block of North Highway 287.
Highway 287 between North Shields Street and Colorado Highway 1 remained closed early Friday morning as officers continued to investigate.
Police said they received a 911 call at 7:22 p.m. Thursday from a woman who reported the suspect, who she knew, was armed and threatening her and several others before leaving the scene.
Once officers arrived, investigators said the suspect illegally entered the victim's home.
When the suspect finally came out, officers said he came at them with a weapon and refused to comply with commands.
According to Fort Collins Police, officers tried to subdue the suspect with a Taser, but were unsuccessful in stopping him which is when officers fired their weapons.
None of the officers were injured.
The suspect was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies where he was later pronounced dead.
Fort Collins Police have not released the name of the suspect or the officers who fired their weapons.
Those officers will be placed on paid administrative leave which is normal police protocol.
