DENVER – Troopers in Nebraska say the woman arrested Thursday night following an Amber Alert for her 2-year-old daughter fled police at 115 miles per hour before she was captured.

Donetta Phipps, 46, of Thornton was arrested around 10:30 p.m. CT Thursday in Saline County, Nebraska and that her daughter, for whom an Amber Alert was issued, was safe.

The area where Phipps was arrested was more than 470 miles from where the two went missing from earlier Friday near 136th Ave. and Holly Street in Thornton.

Nebraska State Patrol says troopers saw the vehicle near Sutton, Neb. and started a pursuit. Speeds eventually reached speeds of 115 miles per hour as troopers chased her through two Nebraska counties.

They were eventually able to use spike strips to stop the vehicle east of Friend, Neb. about a half-hour after the pursuit charges and took Phipps into custody. She was being held at the Clay County, Neb. jail as of Friday morning.

Phipps was under a District Court order to relinquish the child to a relative at the Thornton Police Department at 1 p.m. but failed to do so, according to a Thornton police department spokesperson.
