Mother, 2 children escape kidnapping attempt in Thornton; Suspect at-large

THORNTON, Colo. – Police are on the hunt for a suspect following an attempted kidnapping in Thornton late Friday afternoon.

A mother and her two children were coming out of the Larkridge Shopping Center near Highway 7 at around 4:30 p.m., when a man reportedly approached their vehicle and got inside through the rear driver’s side door.

The mother confronted the man and he reportedly walked away going north through the parking lot, according to Victor Avila, a spokesman for the Thornton Police Department.

The suspect is described as a black male, measuring 5-foot-10 with a medium build and was last seen wearing a black and blue jacket, black plants, black shoes and a black knit style ski cap.

He was also last seen wearing black sunglasses and had several freckles on his face.
