More arrests possible in murder of 2 Colorado Springs teens, sheriff's office says

Posted

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. – There may still be more arrests forthcoming in the murder case of two Colorado Springs teens that has so far netted at least 10 arrests directly linked to the killings.

After 18-year-old Endo Velarde turned himself in Saturday night after days of being sought on a warrant for attempting to influence a public official, El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby told Denver7 Monday that the sheriff’s office may still make more arrests in the case.

“We won’t stop until everyone responsible is in custody,” Kirby said Monday.

Derek Greer, 15, and Natalie Partida, 16, were found dead March 12 along the side of Old Pueblo Road, south of Fountain.

But investigators have released few details in the case, not even saying how the teens were murdered, citing the ongoing investigation.

But Velarde was the 10th arrest directly related to the case.

In just the past week, four suspects were arrested in connection with this case.

Breeana Eloise Dahlberg, 20, and Carlos Meza, a.k.a. "Tink," were arrested Friday afternoon on felony charges related to the case. On Wednesday, deputies took Angelita Prado, 21, into custody on kidnapping charges. A day before, another man was arrested in connection to the alleged murders.

Last Saturday, four others were also arrested on various charges relating to the teens’ deaths, including murder, kidnapping, robbery and child abuse.

On March 19, a week after the teens were found dead, deputies arrested Gustavo Antonio Marquez, 19, and charged him with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of aggravated robbery and one count of child abuse resulting in death.

And on March 30, deputies arrested eight people on drugs charges and outstanding warrants while continuing to investigate the case, but said the charges were unrelated to the teens’ murders.

Kirby told Denver7 Monday the sheriff’s office would release details about the case once all the suspects have been taken into custody. It’s unclear how many more people deputies are looking for in relation to the case.
