AURORA, Colo. – A man wanted by police out of Denver was arrested Tuesday night after an hours-long standoff with police inside an Aurora home.
The man was holed up inside a home in the 9300 block of E. 19th Avenue for nearly four hours Tuesday afternoon.
An Aurora Police Department spokesperson confirmed the man arrested was the same man who exchanged gunfire with Denver Police Department officers on Saturday. The spokesperson said the man had been shot in the leg during that exchange.
Several homes in the area were evacuated as multiple agencies worked to get the man out of the home safely.
Shortly after 10 p.m., Aurora police said the man was taken into custody “without incident.” The Aurora Police Department also said “there was also a baby in the house” that is also safe.
The APD spokesperson said officers decided to go into the house after getting no response from the man for hours. Inside, they recovered a rifle, the spokesperson said. More information is expected to be released Wednesday.
