DENVER -- A man wounded by Denver police officers during an attempt to arrest him near Dailey Park early Saturday has died.
The shooting happened shortly before 3 a.m. at a home on North Fox Street and West Ellsworth Avenue.
Officers went inside the home to make the arrest and found the male armed with a knife, said Denver Police Department Technician Eranda Piyanesa. He refused commands to drop the knife, Piyanesa said.
"They (officers) deployed a Taser, it was not effective and the suspect continued to advance on officers at which point they shot him,” Piyanesa added.
The suspect was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead at about 10:45 a.m. by Denver police. Denver7 was not immediately able to confirm what the man was wanted for.

No officers were injured.
A second person was found hiding on the roof of the home. He was also arrested, according to police. There is now a joint investigation into the shooting.
This is the ninth officer-involved shooting involving Denver Police officers this year.
