DENVER — A man charged in connection with a fatal hit and run crash involving an Uber pleaded guilty Monday at his pre-trial conference.

Adrian Valdez-Refugio, 21, pleaded guilty to one count of vehicular homicide—DUI and one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death. His jury trial was scheduled to begin next week.

In the morning of September 17, 2017, Valdez-Refugio was driving near 14th Avenue and Franklin Street when he crashed into an Uber vehicle, killing the 37-year-old passenger Maroun Khater.

Valdez-Refugio fled the scene of the accident on foot and was arrested later at his home. Police say he exhibited signs of impairment when he was located.

Khater was from Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. He was born in Lebanon and came to the United States in 1985, according to his obituary.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 28, 2019
