ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A 26-year-old man has pleaded guilty in the stabbing death of another man in Adams County last year, officials said Thursday.

Ontonio Paul Borrego pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge in 57-year-old Ruperto Amaya-Aldaco's death on May 25, 2019, according to the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Adams County deputies responded that day to the Revival Apartment complex in the 7200 block of Samuel Drive, where they found Amaya-Aldaco lying in a pool of blood on the sidewalk.

Evidence showed that Borrego stabbed Amaya-Aldaco in the neck, officials said.

Borrego faces 32-48 years in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 23.
