DENVER – A man who was accused of using a Freddy Krueger-style bladed glove to fatally stab a man outside a restaurant near downtown Denver last year has been found guilty.

A jury found Christian Lee Gulzow, 37, guilty of second-degree murder on Monday following a four-day trial, the Denver District Attorney’s Office said. Gulzow had originally been charged with first-degree murder.

Gulzow fatally stabbed Brian Lucero, 29, in an alley outside the Torchy’s Tacos at 11th and Broadway in Denver in the early-morning hours of May 23, 2017.

The two men had been in a confrontation at a nearby convenience store before the altercation, in which Lucero was stabbed in the neck.

Gulzow was wearing white makeup with black streaks down his face and had a glove with 2- to 3-inch blades on it, according to his arrest affidavit.

Gulzow left the scene after the alleged stabbing, and police said they found him covered in blood nearby after he allegedly threw the murder weapon into nearby bushes.

Gulzow faces up to 48 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 10.
