DENVER – A man involved in a crash early Sunday on I-70 near I-225 that killed two people has been arrested for investigation on vehicular homicide charges.
Ernie Crawley, 39, was set to make his first court appearance Tuesday after his arrest in the crash, which killed a man and a woman and injured three others, including Crawley.
Police said Crawley’s vehicle left its lane on I-70 early Sunday, crashing into another vehicle and causing both to roll over. Two passengers in the other vehicle died at the scene, and the driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital.
Crawley and his female passenger were also hospitalized. A probable cause statement for Crawley’s arrest said he had slurred speech, bad balance, bloodshot eyes and alcohol on his breath after the crash.
He requested a blood draw test at the hospital, after which it was determined he was at-fault in the crash.
Crawley has yet to be formally charged.
