ARVADA, Colo. – A man wanted in connection with the death of an Arvada woman was arrested earlier this week in Arizona, according to the Arvada Police Department.
On Friday afternoon, police went to the home of Alicia Banks-Newton, 32, to conduct a welfare check on the woman. Police went to the home because they received information from her family that her boyfriend, 43-year-old Donovan Walsh, “was involved in her death.”
After drafting a search warrant and performing a search of the apartment in the area of Wadsworth Boulevard and W. 67th Avenue, police did not find Banks-Newton, but instead discovered what they called “concerning physical evidence.”
Two days later, on June 7, Arvada Police Detectives requested and received an arrest warrant for first-degree murder, evidence tampering and domestic violence for Walsh.
The suspect was found in the area of Globe, Ariz., where he was taken into custody without incident.
Police said in a news release the investigation into the case is ongoing.
