LAKEWOOD, Colo. – Police arrested a 47-year-old man for investigation on drunken driving and vehicular homicide charges, among others, in connection with a five-vehicle crash that killed a young woman Sunday.
Todd Kenneth Grudznske, 47, is being held for investigation on vehicular homicide – reckless driving, vehicular homicide – DUI and felony DUI charges and for allegedly violating a protection order, Lakewood police said Thursday morning.
The crash happened just before 1 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of W. Colfax and Kipling St.
The 25-year-old woman who died in the crash was stopped at the light on southbound Kipling St. when Grudznske allegedly slammed his car into the back of hers, knocking it into oncoming traffic.
The woman, who has not been identified by the coroner’s office, died after she was taken to a nearby hospital. Grudznske was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Five total vehicles were involved in the crash, but no other injuries were reported. The intersection was closed for nearly 5 hours for investigation and cleanup.
Court records show Grudznske pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor harassment charge in October 2017 in Jefferson County and that he had a temporary protection order granted against him in 2016.
Court records indicate Grudznske is being held on a $20,000 bond at the Jefferson County jail.
