EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. – A man accused of lighting a woman and her teenage family member on fire on Sunday was arrested early Thursday morning.

Consepcion Rascon Jr., 36, faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree arson, child abuse and domestic violence charges stemming from the incident, which happened around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Deputies were called to the 1300 block of Forest Road Sunday afternoon to find a vehicle on fire and the woman and teenage girl with burns from the fire.

The sheriff’s office says Rascon allegedly threw fuel on the woman and lit her on fire. The young girl, a relative of the woman’s, was burned while trying to put the fire out. Both were taken to an area hospital to be treated.

The sheriff’s office had been looking for Rascon since the incident, but said Thursday morning he was arrested and jailed.
