AURORA, Colo. (AP) — A Colorado man accused of stabbing his stepfather to death before taking cellphone video of the aftermath and posting it to social media has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

The Aurora Sentinel reports 20-year-old Nickolas Vinson pleaded not guilty Thursday to first-degree murder stemming from the Dec. 14, 2017, death of 50-year-old Oscar Owensby.

Vinson told Aurora police he and Owensby had been arguing earlier in the day about household chores and money, and he stabbed Owensby in the neck because he was scared he was going to hit him.

Investigators say Vinson posted a video to Snapchat of his mother crouching and screaming next to the body.

He has been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.
