DENVER – The man accused of driving drunk and causing a crash Sunday near the intersections of I-70 and I-225 in Denver was formally charged Thursday with several felonies, including vehicular homicide—DUI.
Ernie Crawley, 39, faces two counts of motor vehicle homicide—DUI, two counts of motor vehicle homicide—reckless driving, one count of vehicular assault—DUI, one count of vehicular assault—reckless driving and one count of misdemeanor DUI. The initial six charges are all felonies.
Brandi Wilson, 24, and Sean Moler, 21, were killed in the crash. They were passengers in a vehicle that Crawley is accused of running into on eastbound I-70 near southbound I-225.
Both vehicles rolled over in the crash, and Wilson and Moler were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that vehicle was injured, and a passenger in Crawley’s car was also injured.
Police said Crawley had slurred speech, bad balance, bloodshot eyes and alcohol on his breath after the crash and found Crawley was at fault.
Crawley’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 8.
